from the DeHarts

It was a great joy to be back in the states for a few weeks during April and May. During this time we visited several partners, friends and family. We certainly enjoyed time with family and it was quite refreshing to minister in churches and share about what God is doing in Guatemala. Here are some of the highlights:
NEW Baby!
We have a handsome new GRANDson! Along with our son Chris and his wife Jacque, we welcomed our 4th grandchild, Joseph Benjamin DeHart on April 19. He weighed 8 lbs., 11 oz. and was 21 inches long. He is amazing (of course) and perfectly healthy. We can’t wait to see all of them again at Christmas!

NEW Airplane!

Back in November 2021 we were surprised (to say the least!) with the gift of a Cessna 172 airplane for our ministry. While in the states this past April we flew our new plane for the first time. In sharing this news with several people, one pastor/pilot is helping to upgrade the navigation and communication systems to provide a GPS and autopilot to make flying safer in the mountainous areas of Guatemala. After these essential upgrades the plane will be moved to Guatemala and put into service in the mission field. God has used many different people to provide this amazing ministry tool. We are gratefully overwhelmed and amazed! Please take a moment to watch this exciting video story.
NEW Semester – Kekchi Bible Institute (KBI)
When we returned to Guatemala in May, we began teaching in the current semester at the Kekchi Bible Institute. This time we get to teach computer classes again. It is important for the students to not only learn theology but to add skills to their repertoire to be well rounded as leaders and pastors. In teaching word processing and Power Point, we can illustrate its use in preparing sermons and teaching.

One of the past Bible school graduates is now the pastor of the church and the students at KBI. Pastor Rony and Miriam have worked hard together to grow the church and they are seeing the fruit. At the end of May we were privileged to be part of a baptismal service where Pastor Rony baptized 5 new Christians. What a blessing to see the Kingdom of God increase!

NEW Opportunity – KBI Christian School

Construction of the first 2 classrooms is well underway and we are on track to open the new KBI Christian Elementary school in the beginning of 2023. We are asking for sponsorship of classrooms so that we can invest in teachers and the tools they need to do their jobs effectively. Each classroom will be equipped with its own library and supplies. In reaching out to families of local Kekchi villages, we plan to keep the tuition low and supplement the cost with sponsorship from the States. So we need people who will give monthly to sponsor students, classrooms and the school operational costs.
Monthly classroom support can start at just $25 every month. A total monthly expense for each class is $950. This pays the teacher’s salary (two teachers in each first grade classroom), electricity and monthly school supplies. Your support of this project allows us to offer education to indigenous Kekchi children at a very small monthly tuition. Class sizes are limited to 20 students.
We would love for you to be part of this project to help these kids in rural villages receive a proper education. You can find giving information for donating specifically to the school project by clicking here. Support School
100% of funds directed through this page go directly to the school project with 0% taken for administrative costs. This is your investment in the lives of real people, making a difference that will change generations to come.
Anniversary #41

We just celebrated our anniversary on June 12. Yes, we have been married for 41 years! We were blessed to spend a couple of days away in beautiful Rio Dulce. Hot spring waterfalls, the beautiful Lake Izabal, an amazing lobster dinner and some relaxing pampering were just what the doctor ordered! I don’t know how it is possible that we grow more and more in love with each passing year, but we do. We are truly blessed.
